Ghana Music Week Launched in China

About Ghana Music Week Festival

 

Organized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga), Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts (MoTCCA), Showbiz Africa & Fantasy Entertainment in partnership Inter-Cultural Chinese Centre, Vibes Community Centre, GMW Festival, will be held in Accra and other key tourist sites in Ghana from March 1-7, 2016 (and up to March 14, 2016 for tourists visiting Ghana for the Festival).

 

GMW coincides with Ghana's Independence Celebration each year. In its fourth annual edition since 2013, GMW features local, national and continental music talent from a variety of different musical genres offered. Also, GMW provides the opportunity to sample a wide variety of food and brews from Ghana.

 

Highlights:

Activities include Sales & Exhibition (products & services), seminars, workshops, conferences, comedy acts, sales and shopping booths, street parties, International Music Day, stakeholders dialogue, Ghana Music Day on the air (media activations), Music Essay contest (Student), Creative Industries Day, GH. All-Star Live Concert and Ghana Music Honours,

 

THEME:

Using Ghanaian music as catalyst for promoting tourism.

 

ATTENDING:

Musicians, bands, industry experts and speakers from around the world. Reps. of Music Unions from thirteen (13) African countries, member Unions of the Federation of International Musicians incl. BMU. Over 125 top-class artists from Ghana, Africa, Asia, Europe & the Americas

Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga), Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts (MoTCCA), Showbiz Africa & Fantasy Entertainment in collaboration with Inter-Cultural Chinese Centre, Vibes Community Centre. With support from the Chinese Embassy, Accra and Ghana Embassy in China.

 

 

Why the World Launch?

The goal of GMW Festival is to market Ghanaian music & Tourism to the world. To achieve that, we are launching GMW Festival to the biggest world music markets (U.S.A, U.K, China and Australia) in line with the following objectives:

 

1. To attract about 2,000 direct (and about 3,000 indirect) visitors/investors to Ghana for the GMW Festival in March 2016

 

2. To create jobs for the Ghanaian Arts industry and contribute significantly to country's GDP

 

3. To break communication and kick start an innovative marketing campaign for a successful execution of the 2016 GMW.

 

4. To sell Brand Ghana through music, increase social togetherness and harmony among Ghanaians abroad and promote TOURISM

 

5. To position as many Ghanaian artistes to mainstream international scene.

 

6. To secure potential investors to partner us in the development of the Ghanaian music industry in the areas of copyright, beneficial networking/match-making, general monetization and current music business trends.

 

7. To launch the sub-regions first and biggest educational, networking and match-making platform- Showbiz Africa/Youth Icon's West Africa Music Conference (WAMC), scheduled on March 3, 2016, as part of GMW.

 

8. To support the establishment of a privately-owned International standard Independent Record label to cater for the industry

 

9. To engage audiences and encourage mutual understanding of cultures of Ghana and selected countries for International launch.
